Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari met yesterday with the head of the Turkish Department for Religious Affairs Mohamed Gormaz, who is currently visiting the country.
They discussed issues of joint interest during the meeting.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, the Minister said that they agreed on the importance of enhancing ties to the benefit of Muslims around the world. He said that there were many areas for cooperation between the two countries when it comes to religious affairs, like working to remove misunderstanding about Islam and Muslims in the current world. Institutions that could benefit from enhanced cooperation would be Awqaf, Da'wa and Zakah, the Minister added.
For his part, the Turkish official expressed his delight at visiting Qatar with a high-ranking delegation to work on activating partnership in religious affairs. He also highlighted the strong ties between the two countries.
He stressed on the importance of cooperation in light of the tough times facing the Islamic world. He said that strong cooperation between Turkey and Qatar would help reduce some of the suffering seen in the Islamic world today.
Gormaz added that Qatar and Turkey have a shared ambition for joint work that benefits Muslims around the world. He revealed that there will be joint committees that will examine enhancing cooperation in areas of joint interest.
