Doha: The International Herald Tribune’s fourth Global Clean Energy Forum (GCEF), held for the first time in Qatar, will bring together top-level energy leaders, policymakers and investors from across the globe to discuss current challenges and opportunities for the clean energy industry.

The GCEF to be held at Qatar’s W Doha Hotel & Residences on October 9 and 10, will address key issues driving the renewable energy agenda.  Discussion and debate will focus on how to successfully navigate through the challenges of the ‘new energy reality’ in which cheap gas reigns once again, the conventional channels of funding are in decline and policy support has become uncertain.

Held under the patronage of H E Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, Qatar, the GCEF’s lineup of distinguished speakers includes: Yvo de Boer, Special Global Advisor, Climate Change and Sustainability, KPMG; Ignacio Galan, Chairman & CEO, Iberdrola; Dana Younger, Chief Renewable Energy Specialist, International Finance Corporation; Kandeh K Yumkella (US-G), Special Representative of the Secretary- General & CEO, UN - Sustainable Energy for ALL; Chairman, UN Energy; Ned Harvey, Chief Operating Officer, Rocky Mountain Institute; Damien Scott, General Manager, Williams Technology Centre; Sven Teske, Renewable Energy Director, Greenpeace; Carol Browner, Former Director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy, Senior Counselor, Albright Stonebridge Group.
