DOHA: The Ministry of Interior has highlighted rules and regulations on its Facebook account for the issuance of visas for domestic workers like drivers and maids.
Applications for the recruitment of domestic helps should be made when there is a real need for such services, said the ministry.  Visas for domestic helps will be issued according to the number of the members of the family of a sponsor.
The ministry said it will ensure that applicants are able to fulfil the financial liabilities such as salaries and perks for the workers before issuing a visa. The health condition of an applicant and his need for a domestic help will be also be considered by the ministry.
The ministry also said the applicant should not have been  blacklisted by the authorities concerned, else his application for a visa for a domestic help will be rejected. There are special rules and regulations for the recruitment of sailors, farmers and shepherds from overseas, said the ministry.
Visas for sailors will be issued according to the size of a boat and the type of activity such as fishing or picnicking.
A letter should be issued by the authorities concerned for specifying the activity of the boat to enable the ministry to issue a visa.
Visas for farmers will be issued based on the size of a farm and its activities — whether it is to be used to produce fruits and vegetables, breed animals or serve as a picnic place.
The concerned authorities must issue a letter specifying the activity, the ministry added.
Visas for shepherds will be issued only for those having animal breeding farms.
A certificate from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment  must be issued, specifying the needs of a farm for shepherds based on the number of animals and the letter should be attached with the application for visa.
