Kahramaa begins campaigns to reduce water and power usage

DOHA: General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has launched awareness programmes to increase energy efficiency and reduce consumption of electricity and water during  Ramadan.
The programmes come within the Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department’s activities to achieve Tarsheed objectives.
Tarsheed has succeeded in reducing per capita consumption of electricity by 14 percent and water by 17 percent until November 2015 and aims at reducing consumption of electricity by 20 percent and water by 35 percent in future.
As for awareness, Kahramaa has launched a comprehensive campaign to reach out to all communities. Awareness stickers in different languages have been posted in mosques to promote electricity and water conservation. There are also campaigns at malls.
The ‘Less Is Blessed’ campaign at Lulu Hypermarket has displayed awareness messages to educate shoppers to reduce water and electricity consumption.
Kahramaa has also launched a social media campaign and ‘Ramadan Conservation Challenge’. contest. Two winners will be chosen daily from those who send correct answers to questions.

Tarsheed and Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) will hold an event at Al Arabi Club (Iftar tent) tomorrow. It will feature cultural and awareness activities in several Indian languages. A contest will be held following awareness lectures and prizes will be given to winners. The Legal Monitoring Section at Conserving and Energy Efficiency Department will hold inspections under Conservation Law No. 20 for 2015. Violators will be punished.
