DOHA: Ezdan Mall is preparing to cultivate organic vegetables in free space of the facility to promote greenery as part of its efforts to protect the environment.

“The mall is gearing up to plant a garden in the outdoor area that would produce organic vegetables,” said General Manager Malik Qaiser Awan. “The project aims to become a joint venture between the private and government sectors,” he told a ‘Green Community’ gathering hosted by the mall, an Ezdan Holding Group subsidiaries. The event discussed environmental challenges.
The initiative is part of ‘#Green Dream 2022’ campaign organised by the mall to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment. It was launched under Qatar National Vision 2030.
The event was attended by environment experts, “#Green Dream 2022” organisers from the mall, ambassadors, volunteers, mall visitors, technical experts, environment enthusiasts and school administrators and students.
Awan said the mall has applied environmental concepts such as innovative and easy waste recycling, installing energy-efficient bulbs and implementing alternative ways to save energy consumption such as the use of solar energy. He said the mall has collaborated with parties to implement projects and procedures of “#Green Dream 2022” campaign and achieve good results.
The parties include Qatar Canadian Co., Plaza Hollandi, and Sidra Agriculture Company, which will provide guidance and environmental awareness to mall staff and participants in the campaign, including volunteers, guests and students, among others.
The campaign aims to inspire families and change their daily behaviour to prevent excessive consumption of natural resources through holding educational workshops and training sessions, especially as wasting natural resources is prone to cause serious damage to society and expose individuals to severe health issues.
And taking care of environment now is caring for our children’s world to be a better place. The mall also held workshops for visitors and shoppers to educate them on the importance of protecting the environment from industrial pollution, exhaust emissions, and others. The projects consisted of planting vegetation around the mall, collaborating with schools on trips, workshops and cultural and entertainment activities to instil environment protection values and culture in students. Ezdan Real Estate, one of Ezdan Holding Group subsidiaries, recently installed 120,000 water-saving devices in 7,000 residential units.
