Ninety-seven employers were yesterday honoured by Qatar University (QU) in the annual “Employer Recognition Ceremony” held at Doha St Regis Hotel in the presence of QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham, QU leaders, representatives of honoured companies, faculty and staff.
The event, which was organised by QU Career Services Center (CSC), aimed to honour employers in various sectors who collaborated with various colleges to train or sponsor QU students during 2016. They were presented with trophies by Dr Al Derham to recognise their contribution.
Dr Al Derham expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the employers for their pivotal role in supporting QU’s objectives, strategic plan and Qatar National Vision 2030 towards a knowledge-based economy.
He said: “Qatar University is committed to promoting national identity among students and to shaping national competencies by equipping them with high-quality education. We are always pleased to receive a feedback about our qualified graduates.”
Dr Al Derham highlighted QU achievements in international and regional rankings, saying, “Qatar University has been ranked No 1 in the Arab world in the Round University Rankings (RUR) and No 1 in international collaboration in The World University Rankings 2015-2016. The organisation has also been ranked 393 in the QS World University Rankings 2016-2017 among the top 400 universities in the world. These successes could not be achieved without your support.”
CSC Director Maha Al Marri said: “The continuous collaboration between QU and the various sectors in Qatar helps us to prepare a generation which is capable of participating in the process of national development."
