NEW YORK: Gold fell yesterday as sharply lower crude oil prices and a dollar rebound prompted the bullion market to take a breather following its recent rally. “Gold is under pressure with the weak crude, but it is still all about the US dollar and the interest rate outlook,” said George Gero, vice president at RBC Capital Markets. Spot gold was down 0.5 percent at $1,231.26 an ounce at 1514 GMT after briefly touching a four-week high of $1,237.90/oz earlier. Gold, priced in dollars, becomes more expensive for holders of other currencies when dollar strengthens. Reuters
