Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar participated in the sixth meeting of the Arab Public Prosecutors Association, held in the city of El Alamein in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The participation marked the first involvement of Qatar’s Public Prosecution after it joined the membership of the Arab Public Prosecutors Association. The move reflects Qatar’s commitment to strengthening Arab cooperation, exchanging expertise and supporting the development of legal frameworks and practices across the region.
The Qatari Public Prosecution delegation was headed by First Advocate General and Director of the Judicial Inspection Department Abdullah Mohammed Al Maliki, with the participation of a number of Public Prosecution members.
The meeting featured sessions for points of contact, the Executive Committee and the General Assembly, during which participants held in-depth discussions on a number of key issues concerning the association’s work and future development.
Among the issues discussed was the adoption of amendments to the principles governing the association, including setting terms of office for members of the Executive Committee. Participants also discussed the establishment of the association’s permanent centre in the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as completing its administrative structure and digital documentation registry.
The sessions also reviewed the association’s financial situation and discussed proposals for workshops to be organised in 2026.
At the institutional and international levels, participants discussed ways to strengthen communication with the League of Arab States in order to enhance the association’s presence and role. They also approved communication with the European Union Agency in accordance with a draft memorandum of understanding prepared by the General Secretariat.
Participants also reviewed a proposal to launch an annual award to honour distinguished members of the public prosecution authorities of member states. In addition, they completed discussions on other matters included in the report of the association’s General Secretariat.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Nasser Ali Al Nuaimi, a Qatari Chief Prosecutor, was honoured with the association’s annual Distinguished Award, which is presented to outstanding figures from the public prosecution authorities of member states in recognition of their notable contributions to the legal field.
