Aman strengthens Gulf cooperation on social protection

Doha, Qatar: The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (Aman), one of the centres affiliated with the Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW), is strengthening Gulf cooperation and the exchange of expertise in social protection and rehabilitation through a visit by a centre delegation to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The delegation, headed by Acting Executive Director of Aman  Fadl Al Kaabi, visited the ministry to learn about the Saudi experience and exchange knowledge and best practices in social protection.

During the visit, the delegation held its first meeting with Assistant Undersecretary for Rehabilitation and Social Guidance at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Riyadh Eng. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Hadithi, along with representatives of the Social Protection Department, the Reporting Centre and other entities involved in the social protection system.

The meeting reviewed the mechanisms and services provided by the Saudi social protection system, with discussions focusing on procedures for receiving reports and handling them, as well as protection, intervention, rehabilitation and follow-up pathways.

Al Kaabi said the visit forms part of Aman’s efforts to expand cooperation and exchange expertise at the Gulf level, stressing the importance of Gulf integration and sharing successful experiences in social protection.

“We at Aman believe in the importance of Gulf integration and exchanging successful experiences in the field of social protection, given their direct impact on developing services and enhancing the efficiency of protection systems,” he said.

Director of Rehabilitation at Aman Amina Al Mahmoud, highlighted the importance of exchanging professional and technical experiences in developing rehabilitation pathways.

She said the visit provided an opportunity to learn about a number of practices and mechanisms used in dealing with cases, while discussing experiences related to intervention, rehabilitation and follow-up.
