Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) is helping Muslims who wish to perform Haj on behalf of their ill or dear dead parents and those incapable of performing it.
The donor will receive a certificate that the Haj rituals were completely done and an accredited release that the substituting person performed the rituals completely.
QC has launched a campaign to implement several initiatives related to this year’s ‘Substitute Haj’ project to fulfil the wishes of performing Haj to those incapable of doing it and give donors the honour of helping other Muslims perform Haj.
Faisal Rashid Al Fahida, Executive Director, Operation Executive Management, QC, said, “For the fourth year in a row, QC is implementing ‘Substitute Haj’ project to offer those incapable of performing Haj the chance to fulfil one of the requirements of the religion; the beneficiaries are those ill or those who wish to have someone perform Haj on behalf of a deceased beloved”.
He explained how QC has finished working on the project by paying the costs according to certain conditions and regulations.
“Each pilgrim was sponsored for QR3,000; and the pilgrims were offered meals,” he added.
The project will be implemented by supervisors from QC who work in the field; and students, preachers and memorisers of the Holy Quran. These people will perform Haj on behalf of those incapable or dead.
Al Fahida said donors will receive a certificate that the Haj rituals were completely done and an accredited release that the substituting person had performed the rituals completely.
He thanked the philanthropists: “You have offered these people the chance to fulfil one of the requirements of the religion and helped show hospitability to the guests of the House of Allah,” he added.
Philanthropists can donate through QC’s website (qcharity.org); collection points and QC’s branches or can use the hotline 44667711.
Last year, QC was able to provide 878 substitute Haj opportunities for those incapable. The total cost of last year’s project reached QR3.34m; QC also distributed 16,856 meals to the guests of the house of Allah at a cost of QR421,000.
Coinciding with implementation of the Substitute Haj project last year, QC inaugurated its campaign ‘Your Sacrifice, Their Eid’ and offered sacrifices for 1,000,000 around the world at a cost of about QR1.4m. More than 28,300 sacrifices, equalling 500 tonnes of meat, were distributed in 52 countries. In Qatar, 2,500 sacrifices benefited 12,000 people, including 668 low-income sponsored families.
