DOHA: As summer has arrived and many people are travelling abroad on vacation, the Ministry of Interior has reminded them of safety and security requirements.
To protect homes from fires, people should follow safety guidelines and precautionary measures, including ensuring that all electricity points and extensions are safe to prevent short-circuits and sparks, the Ministry said on its Facebook account.
Fire precaution and prevention require constant maintenance of electrical appliances, especially in the kitchen, where oils and fats from cooking could accumulate on exhaust fans and cause fire.
Similarly, gas cylinders should be properly turned off and all inflammable items kept out of children’s reach all the time, the ministry said. It is important to have ready-to-use fire extinguishers at home and to know how to use them, the ministry added.The Peninsula
