Beirut: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam expressed hope that the agreement reached between the United States and Iran would end the Israeli war on Lebanon and halt the ongoing killing, destruction, and displacement.
Speaking at the opening of a Lebanese cabinet meeting, Salam stated that since the beginning of the war on Lebanon, the government has been working tirelessly to halt and prevent further harm to Lebanon and the Lebanese people. He emphasized that the government would redouble efforts through ongoing negotiations in Washington to secure a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon and the release of detainees.
He added that the Lebanese government mobilized all available resources in recent months to manage the displacement crisis, expressing hope that displaced citizens will be able to return safely and with dignity to their towns and villages as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister's remarks follow an announcement by US President Donald Trump yesterday, Sunday, on Truth Social platform, confirming that a peace agreement had been reached with Iran.
