Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) yesterday held a ceremony to celebrate its ‘This Is My Wish’ programme, which fulfils wishes of ill children being treated at hospitals. A large number of families, QRCS partners and the media were present.
This year’s celebration presented gifts to 60 children with various health problems, in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar Institute for Speech and Hearing, and Tamakun Comprehensive School, which selected the beneficiaries.
“QRCS’s Social Development Department is working to serve the Qatari society by helping the vulnerable. Supporting patients is a main concern of the department, as an effective way to help them recover and withstand their health challenges,” said Fahad bin Mohammed Al Naimi, Director-General, QRCS.
The programme was launched in 2007 as a psychological support initiative for ill children is held during Ramadan.
Maitha S Al Bouainain, Executive Director, Community Affairs and Patient Engagement, Hamad General Hospital, said: “We at HMC are open to everyone, under our community partnership strategy. We are willing to work with any partners for the best interest of society.”
Several mothers were also honoured for standing by their ailing children despite difficulties. The event also featured fun games for children.
