Doha: Qatargas employees and contractors participated in two blood donation campaigns organised by the company’s Medical Department in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) at Qatargas Doha head office and Ras Laffan headquarters.
A fully-equipped mobile blood donation unit arrived from HMC along with medical professionals and parked at the Qatargas premises to help facilitate the drive. The HMC team was assisted by Qatargas Medical Centre personnel. As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Qatargas has been organising blood donation campaigns at its premises over 15 years, in cooperation with HMC. Hundreds of employees and contractors have donated blood.
The company holds four drives each year — two in Doha and two in Ras Laffan. In addition to helping the blood bank increase its supply of blood and components, Qatargas believes that such campaigns also help disseminate the culture of voluntary blood donation in society. Qatargas has been a platinum sponsor of World Blood Donor Day celebrations organised by HMC for three years.
