World renowned Urdu critic and academic, Waris Alvi passed away last week after prolonged illness at the age of 86, in a hospital in Ahmedabad.
“Prof Waris Alvi was awarded Aalmi Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Award by our Majlis-e-Frogh- e-Urdu Adab, Doha, Qatar for the year 2008 from India and he had come personally to receive it in Doha in the month of May of that year,” Mohammad Atiq, Majlis Chairman said.
He has written more than 20 books.
