Car and Driver magazine declared that the Honda Accord is one of the 10 best cars of 2014. With competition increasing in the midsize category, Honda retains its lead and dominance of this segment as the Accord wins this coveted title for the 28th year in a row, ever since it appeared in the international market. Honda as an automobile company has featured in the 10 Best Cars award from the magazine for the last 28 years, their presence in international markets being only 31 years.
According to the editorial team of the magazine, the appreciation for Accord is based on the mix of dynamic excellence and fuel efficiency balanced by a well-equipped, comfortable and practical package.
The 2014 Honda Accord features Honda's innovative Earth Dreams Technology powertrains, including Honda's next-generation 2.4-liter, direct-injected 4-cylinder engine with continuously variable transmission or 6-speed manual transmission.
Fuel efficiency is the best ever for Accord in the EPA Midsize class, with 4-cylinder models earning a 36 mpg highway EPA rating2 and the V-6 models garnering a 34 mpg highway EPA rating2.
In addition to fuel economy ratings leadership, the Accord has continually led the industry in meeting strict emissions standards. The Accord Plug-In is the first vehicle to achieve SULEV 20 emissions standards, with the lowest tailpipe emissions of any ICE vehicle currently available. Additionally the Accord was the first vehicle to meet ULEV (1998) and SULEV (2000) emissions standards.
