Al Diplomacy Magazine highlights sports diplomacy

Doha: Al Diplomacy Magazine of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in its new issue, highlighted Qatar’s sports diplomacy in celebration of the country’s current hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The issue began with excerpts from a speech by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the opening session of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in which His Highness welcomed the world to Qatar to enjoy this unique championship. It also carried a report on the great success for Qatar’s sports diplomacy and the affirmation of H H the Amir on every occasion that the State of Qatar will fulfil its promise of organising an exceptional edition of the World Cup.

The issue also highlighted the efforts of Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in the sports field and in the consolidation of sports diplomacy which led to the State of Qatar winning this right to organize the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The new issue of the magazine also included excerpts from an interview given by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to News Asia channel in which he emphasised Qatar’s keenness to ensure the best experience for fans during the tournament.

Al Diplomacy Magazine devoted the file of this issue to its interviews with a number of heads of the country’s diplomatic missions in Arab and international capitals about the World Cup in Qatar and the role of sports diplomacy in consolidating the status of the State of Qatar regionally and globally.

The magazine also shed light on the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum at the Khalifa International Stadium and the eight World Cup stadiums. It also featured a number of topics and articles on sports diplomacy and its role in promoting development and peace.
