A three-day Filipino bazaar is expected to attract 10,000 visitors to its wide array of authentic Filipino food, spectacular shows, exciting competitions and fun-filled activities.
Dubbed “Handog ng Kulinarya sa Qatar 2016 (A Thanksgiving for Qatar)”, the community event is being organised to show the Filipino community’s appreciation of the host country as it marks its National Day and reaffirm Filipinos' commitment to strengthen their relationship with the wider international community through food and culture.
To be held at Westin Doha Hotel and Spa, the event will be launched on Friday and conclude on Qatar National Day. It will be this year’s final event organised under Kulinarya Qatar — a unique brand and movement initiated by the Philippine Embassy to promote Filipino gastronomy and culture. It follows the big success of its previous bazaar during Eid Al Adha which saw more than 6,000 visitors.
Around 15 Doha-based Filipino restaurants will set up stalls offering a wide selection of Filipino fare. Thirty booths showcasing products and services offered by a number of companies are taking part at the bazaar exuding a “barrio fiesta” atmosphere. A number Philippine and Qatari government entities are also expected to participate at the event.
Among the competitions that will be organised are choral singing, “parol making” and ballroom dance sport. The best booth among the vendors will also be chosen and recognised at the end of conclusion of the event.
Among the other features are children’s play areas, Filipino sari-sari store and photo booth in addition to zumba and photoshoot for a cause charity events.
Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2016 runner-up Janela Joy Cuaton along with model and television actress Jelai Andres and Internet sensation Jon Gutierrez will be the celebrity guests at the event.
Over a dozen local Filipino music bands and dance groups will enthrall visitors with their performances.
The event will be open from Friday to Sunday from 10am to 10pm. Entrance is free.
