The Technical committee for promoting private sector participation at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce said yesterday that it has completed preparations for the logistics project in southern Al Wakra, Birkat Al Awamir and Aba Salil ahead of schedule.
The committee is working with Logistic Committee and Economic Zone Company (Manateq) for implementation of the project.
The committee said it has completed all its obligations by signing contracts with investors for booking and renting land and has also provided designs free of charge for construction of warehouses in the area of 1000 sqm to 2000 sqm .
The committee said it is now working to implement the infrastructure aspects within the deadline.
Deadline for completion of the projects is set at the middle of 2018. The project aims to develop and operate the logistic area in the southern part of the country to create investment opportunities before 2022 FIFA World Cup and enhance participation of private sector in logistics industry, said the committee.
The committee signed all contracts before February 16 and has prepared land for construction head of the February 2017 deadline.
The investors must complete all licensing procedures for constructon before January next year and start construction in February so that they can start operations my mid- 2018 as scheduled.
The committee called on all investors to visit the Manateq office to receive land and start the licensing procedures with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
The largest such project in the south of the country, it includes warehousing facilities for cars, assembly units, cold storages, shops and showrooms, commercial offices, labour camps, workshops, service centres and depots.
