Workshop raises awareness on data collection, analysis

DOHA: The Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) recently held the “methods of industrial data collection, processing and analysis” workshop at Retaj Al Rayyan Hotel in Doha.

The workshop was attended by numerous participants from ministries of industry, trade and planning, statistics centres, industrial banks, chambers of commerce and export authorities throughout GCC countries. 

The objective of this training was to underline the importance of data processing and analysis for professionals working in the area of industrial and economic statistics and within statistics authorities, customs statistics departments, survey institutions, research and development centres and industrial investors and consulting companies and entities. GOIC also raised awareness about the best methods to collect data and provide them with new data analysis services. Participants discussed technical concepts and definitions of data and information and scientific methods to collect, organise, summarise, present, analyse explain and interpret the data.

GOIC Secretary General Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al Ageel distributed certificates to the participants. He reiterated GOIC’s role in building the capacities of Gulf industrial staff and stressed the importance of industrial data in terms of decision making. 

“The idea of organising such a training was based upon the importance of industrial data in GCC and Arab countries and the data’s role in economic and investment decision making.”
