UN calls for Azerbaijan, Armenia to de-escalate

New York: The United Nations called on Azerbaijan and Armenia to take immediate steps to de-escalate cross-border tensions, exercise maximum restraint, and resolve any outstanding issues through dialogue.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his alarm regarding reports of renewed fighting on the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In a statement, the Secretary-General called on the two sides to take immediate steps to de-escalate tension and resolve any outstanding issues through dialogue and within existing formats.
