Doha: Five slaughterhouses in the Central Market in Doha received about 10,500 sacrificial animals during the first two days of Eid Al-Adha.

Al Khor-Al Dakhira abattoir received about 1,000 animals.

Meat of more than 20 animals was destroyed after it was found infected and unfit for human consumption, said Ahmed Kamal, Supervisor of Slaughtering in the Central Market. The abattoirs are going to provide sacrifices to charities for distribution to beneficiaries today and tomorrow, Kamal added.

Meanwhile, about 5,000 subsidised sheep have been sold as part of an initiative by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
