A convoy of aid dispatched on its way to Syria.
Doha: Qatar Development Fund (QDF) sent humanitarian convoys to the besieged areas in Syria on the first day of the ceasefire in the country yesterday.
The convoys were dispatched in collaboration with Qatari humanitarian organisations and in coordination with United Nations organisations active in the field, to alleviate the suffering of the civilian victims of the five-year-long bloody conflict.
The aid comes in the wake of the unprecedented growing humanitarian needs in Syria as a result of heightened clashes and continuing humanitarian crisis, which has caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands and displaced millions of Syrians. A ceasefire agreement went into effect on the first day of Eid Al-Adha to create safe paths for delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged areas.
