DOHA: An urgent convoy of four trucks carrying 20 tonnes of food and medicines arrived in Aleppo City in Syria on Wednesday.
The aid was provided by Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Service (RAF) in coordination with its partners in Syria.
The dispatch of the aid in this difficult situation the Syrian people are facing due to constant air strikes in the city is the first among a series of supplies to alleviate the suffering of over 50,000 people in Aleppo and the neighbouring areas, RAF said in a statement yesterday.
About 3,000 of people benefited from the first consignment of the aid.
RAF will continue providing more aid — food or medicines and medical equipment whenever it gets a chance, the statement added.
Thousands of people in Aleppo have been suffering due to the war, lack of food and vital medicines, and the fact that humanitarian institutions can’t access them with aid.
