Doha: Qatar Charity (QC) has inaugurated its Summer Programme ‘Pearls and Coral 7’ for girls, with 70 participants from primary, preparatory and secondary schools.
Ali Al Ghareeb, Director, Programmers and Centres Management,  Executive Management of Local Development, QC, said, “In its seventh edition, the programme aims at reinforcing QC’s role in local development through investment of girls’ summer vacation in a useful way.
“It engages girls in activities that are also fun and help achieve partnerships between public and private institutions, especially those that share same interests and visions.”
QC’s Local Development Management prioritises educational and entertaining programmes and courses to help develop society.
It holds campaigns and national initiatives that address all groups of society and highlight essential community issues.
‘Pearls and Coral 7’ includes educational programmes, technical workshops and entertaining and training activities such as a painting workshop by graphic artist Shaimaa Al Yaf’i. The distinguished way of explanation by Al Yaf’i made painting a beautiful and easy thing to do.
QC focuses on voluntary work by tapping potentials of high school and university students for organising, assisting and helping in activities.
As part of efforts to reinforce communal partnerships with local institutions, cooking and nutrition workshops are held in cooperation with Aspire Katara Hospitality. The courses help raise awareness about healthy eating habits and how to cook simple meals which can be easily done at a young age.
The girls also received training in Photoshop, conducted by Hanan Al Thibyani. They also learnt how to recycle home and library tools, make dolls, frames, and flowers and were taken on  weekly trips.
QC’s Rayyan Branch for Women plans a beauty care workshop in coordination with the Sudanese Embassy to introduce the participants to Sudan’s cultural activities.
