Doha: The Ministry of Public Health yesterday said it has formed a committee of experts to investigate the death of a Qatari woman during delivery in May at the Women’s Hospital.
The death of Shroq Al Sulaiti during delivery of her second child had gone viral in the social media following a news published about the case in an Arabic daily two days ago.
Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has completed the investigation procedures like the formation of a committee which will have local as well as foreign experts. The committee will report to the concerned officials at the HMC after which a report will be submitted to the Ministry. The initial report was presented to Healthcare Practitioners Registration & Licensing Committee of the Ministry of Health yesterday.
The Ministry also pointed out that the Qatar Council of Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) is also investigating the case.
Call to avoid fatalities at HMC in future
The family of the deceased will be informed about the outcome of the investigation and the decisions taken.
The Ministry extended its condolence to the family of the deceased, praying to Allah to bless her soul and forgive her and giver her family patience and solace.
Many nationals showed strong sympathy with the family and urged the authorities concerned to investigate the incident and publish the results as quickly as possible. Many called for action to avoid such incidents in future at the HMC.
“We are the richest country, but why we have no empty beds for patients in the hospital, why death occurs during delivery and why people prefer treatment abroad?” asked one of the commentators.
