DOHA: The Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC) said yesterday that it is planning a campaign to raise public awareness about the importance and benefits of the triage system at heath centres.
All available means will be used for the campaign including social media. There is also a dedicated team to receive and monitor the complaints and suggestions of reviewers and patients and respond to it immediately and rapidly.
PHCC said that the recent revisions and improvements on triage system, is part of the Corporation’s keenness to support patients and reduce the congestion in some health centres.
These improvements come in response to the feedback from visitors, many of whom expect that all patients attending health centres will get an appointment on the same day, with giving priority to the urgent and emergency cases.
PHCC has confirmed that the patients will not be turned back without receiving the required health care, in accordance with the procedures followed by health centres and according to patient classification system (triage).
The criticisms directed to the triage system have resulted from the sudden change in the working system of health centres, said a statement.
The triage system has allowed fast attention for cases that need urgent medical advice, which reduces the chance of complications and the deterioration of patient’s condition.
The triage service is provided through trained staff of doctors, nurses and other staff to provide support for all patients who come to the health centres without prior appointments, added the statement.
