Doha, Qatar: Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC) has launched a Community Breastfeeding Support Line through its Community Call Center, in a move aimed at ensuring continued health guidance and support for mothers following childbirth.

Assistant Managing Director for Operations and Clinical Affairs and Executive Director of Operations at PHCC, Dr. Samia Ahmed Al Abdullah described the launch as a pivotal strategic step in strengthening continuity of care after mothers are discharged from hospital. She emphasized that the initiative will help ensure timely access to professional support within a community-based and supportive environment.

In a press statement issued today, Dr. Al Abdullah noted that the new service directly contributes to PHCC's strategic objectives by expanding preventive and community-based services, enhancing seamless transitions across levels of care, and improving maternal and child health outcomes.

PHCC aims to increase coverage of postnatal support services, enhance patient experience, and deliver measurable improvements in breastfeeding continuity and early-life health indicators. The initiative reflects the Corporation's commitment to a sustainable, outcome-based primary care model.

For her part, Director of Nursing and Midwifery at PHCC, Ibtisam Abdullah said that breastfeeding support is a core pillar of safe, compassionate and family-centered care, as well as a fundamental foundation for building strong early childhood health. She added that the initiative aligns directly with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Health Strategy.

The service will be delivered by qualified PHCC midwives through the Community Call Center (16000) during official working hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday to Thursday. This ensures timely access to specialized professional support within a community-focused primary care setting.

The support line provides evidence-based guidance, health education and professional reassurance during the critical postnatal period. The project is designed to empower mothers, strengthen their confidence, and improve breastfeeding continuity, thereby positively impacting maternal and child health in both the short and long term.

The initiative also advances PHCC's strategic goals of enhancing patient experience, promoting optimal utilization of preventive services, and reducing unnecessary postnatal visits linked to breastfeeding challenges. It further underscores the Corporation's full commitment to Baby-Friendly Hospital principles, the highest standards of quality and safety, and a sustainable, results-driven primary healthcare model.
