DOHA: Opener Javeria Khan struck a polished half century as Pakistan hammered Ireland by seven wickets in their Qatar International Women’s Championship match at West End Park Stadium yesterday.
Chasing just 93, Pakistan’s Khan was the star performer with the bat as the women in green reached their target in just 26 overs.
Sidra Ameen (16) and Nahida Khan (12) were the other two batters to reach double figures.
It was Pakistan’s third successive win in the tournament being played in Doha for the first time.
On the opening day, Pakistan beat Ireland followed by an impressive victory against South Africa, the third side in the tri-nation series.
Earlier in the day, Ireland won the toss and decided to bat first. Only opener C Shillington (20) and I Joyce (36 not out) reached double figures.
Pakistan captain Sana Mir picked up three wickets for 11 in 9 overs. Sadia Yousuf grabbed two wickets for 11 in her 10 overs. Qanita Jalil, Nidar Dar and Nahida Khan picked up a wicket each as Pakistan dismissed Ireland in 48.3 overs.
Today Ireland will take on South Africa at the same venue. The 50-over match starts at 1:00pm. THE PENINSULA
