Doha: The “Karwan-e-Urdu Qatar” is set to celebrate Qatar National Day with an international poetry symposium titled “Jashn-e-Munawwar Rana Aalmi Mushaira” at the DPS MIS School Auditorium on December 17.
A number of famous Indian Urdu poets including Rahat Indori, Munawwar Rana, Habib Hashmi, Mansoor Usmani, Shakeel Azmi, Mumtaz Naseem, Sarvesh Kumar Asthana, Naeim Faraz, Saif Babar among others will participate in the event.
Karwan-e-Urdu Qatar (KUQ) is a purely non-commercial socio-cultural Urdu society. Its purpose is to promote Urdu language and appreciate Urdu literary services. The upcoming Aalmi Mushaira 2016 (on the eve of Qatar National Day) will be held in coordination with Media Plus. It would be a purely non-commercial event, and the admission will be by invitation.
Talking to The Peninsula, Atiq Anzar, President, KUQ said that the event on the one hand would mark Qatar’s National Day and on the other would help promote Urdu in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual country. “Munawwar Rana’s participation is considered enough to make a poetry symposium a success due to his stature in Urdu literary circles."
