Doha: More than 500,000 people visited the 27th Doha International Book Fair at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) that concluded last Thursday.
Books worth over QR18m were sold in the 11-day exhibition. Some 70 percent books showcased in the exhibition were sold out, said Ibrahim Al Sayed, Director of Doha Book Fair.
The largest selling books were Arabic novels followed by those related to customs, tradition, culture and history of Qatar and other GCC countries.
Children’s book (Arabic and English) ranked third in term of sales. Books on poetry, cooking, politics and social science secured fourth position. Dictionaries and religious books ranked fifth in term of sales in the exhibition.
