Mowasalat organises workshop on road safety and accidents

Mowasalat, in cooperation with the Traffic Department and the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC), organised the IRU Workshop for Mitigating Risk in Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road and Sustainable Public Transport, recently.
The workshop was organised by Mowasalat Co. represented by its Karwa Driving School, in collaboration with the International Road Transport Union (IRU) Academy, under the auspices of Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti. 
“Road accidents deplete the capabilities of the society by a great deal, increase security problems, and waste lives, time and money. We at Mowasalat work together on varied measures to spread awareness to prevent accidents and decrease its social, physical, psychological and economical impact upon society and individuals. We also work on identifying the regulations, laws and policies that should come into effect to protect the national economy from the outcome of accidents,” said Nasser bin Mohammed Al-Malki, Chairman, Mowasalat, during his opening speech.
He focused on effective and sufficient measures to reduce road collisions. “Saving lives and road safety is an integral part of our work and our priorities in Mowasalat. We have managed to achieve many of international certifications and accredited training programmes, through which we issue specialised licences that contribute to safe driving on the road, and reduce the risk of accidents. We regularly organise workshops and training courses in the field of road safety and security duly integrating with the stakeholders, in order to participate in the social responsibility of the State and extend the benefits on all segments of society,” said Khaled Nasser Al Hail, Managing Director, Mowasalat.
The workshop had attendance from various industries and stakeholders and concluded successfully for implementation of best measures and policies to reduce road accidents in order to save lives and properties. Also in addition to move forward in supporting the national economy, and achieve the safe and sustainable transport in line with Qatar Vision 2030. 
First Lieutenant Fahad Sherida Al Abdulla, from the Traffic Department, talked on the role of social partnership in traffic safety, while Dr Mohamed Kharbeche, from Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center – Qatar University,presented a paper on transportation modelling of hazardous materials in Qatar.
