Emir offers prayer for Qatari soldier

Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani carrying the coffin of soldier Mohamed Hamid Suleiman on its arrival in Doha yesterday. Suleiman was martyred while performing his duty as part of the Arab forces participating in operation ‘Restoring Hope’ in Yemen. 

DOHA: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday performed funeral prayer for Qatari soldier Mohamed Hamid Suleiman who was martyred while performing his duty as part of the Arab forces participating in operation ‘Restoring Hope’ in Yemen. 
The funeral prayer was performed at the Mesaimeer graveyard mosque.
The Emir also attended the burial of the martyr, along with the latter’s family and several citizens. 
The Emir also offered condolences to the bereaved family and to the Qatar Armed Forces.
Minister of State for Defence Affairs and Cabinet Member H E Major General Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem, several Armed Forces units, officers and military personnel also attended the funeral.
Al Attiyah and Major General Al Ghanem received Suleiman’s body at Al Udaid Base and they accompanied it to the graveyard.
Al Attiyah said the Qatari Armed Forces were proud of martyr Mohamed who sacrificed his life while doing his duty as part of the Arab alliance forces in Yemen. 
He was defending Yemen, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf as a whole, Al Attiyah added.
“The martyr has given us more determination and high morale to defend the legitimate rights through our participation in the battle in Yemen. 
All in the armed forces were so happy to participate in this mission,” he added.
Hamid Suleiman, father of the martyr, said the family feels honoured by his martyrdom. 
Mohamed was happy from the very beginning to join the special Qatari forces in the mission that they have been carrying out to protect Yemen and defend its rights. 
“I was encouraging Mohamed to work hard and be dedicated to his unit and praised his participation in the mission as part of the Qatari Armed Forces. 
“Before he left for Yemen, he expressed his determination to defend the rights and legitimacy,” said the father.
Hamid said all family members have received his martyrdom with patience and steadfastness.
Before performing the funeral prayer, the Imam of Abu Hamour graveyard mosque delivered a short speech, in which he encouraged worshippers to take inspiration from the example set by Suleiman.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni government conveyed its condolences to the Emir and the Qatari people for the martyrdom of Mohamed in Yemen. 
The government praised Qatar for its historic stance of standing beside the people of Yemen. Qatar’s participation in the Arab alliance force led by Saudi Arabia will remain engraved in the memory of the Yemenis, said a statement.The Peninsula
