A cache of alcohol and drugs burn in Kabul yesterday. Afghan authorities destroyed more than 10 tonnes of drugs and thousands of bottles of alcohol as part of their fight against narcotics amid a fresh surge in opium cultivation. About 2,000kg of opium, 400kg of heroin and about 1,200kg of morphine were burned. More than 10,000kg of hashish and thousands of bottles of beer and other alcohol were also destroyed.
