Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is working to strengthen its strategic partnership with Qatar Charity through a joint institutional framework aimed at improving coordination, pooling expertise and resources, and expanding the sustainable impact of charitable and humanitarian initiatives.

Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim, chaired the first meeting of the committee tasked with strengthening the strategic institutional partnership between the ministry and Qatar Charity.

The initiative seeks to establish a national model of cooperation between government institutions and charitable and development organisations, supporting endowment, zakat, humanitarian and development programmes in Qatar and abroad.

During the meeting, the minister described the partnership as a distinctive national model of sustainable institutional cooperation. He stressed the importance of further developing the relationship and translating it into targeted programmes and initiatives with lasting impact, contributing to national priorities and enhancing the effectiveness of endowment, charitable and humanitarian work.

The meeting followed the issuance of Ministerial Decision No. 62 of 2026, establishing a joint coordination and follow-up committee between the ministry and Qatar Charity.

Chaired by the minister, the committee brings together senior officials from both organisations to provide a sustainable institutional framework for joint planning, effective coordination and continuous monitoring of projects and initiatives of mutual interest.

Representing the ministry are Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director of Zakat Affairs Department Mohammed Abdul Latif Al Mahmoud, Director of the Legal Affairs Department Ibrahim Mohammed Al Busairi, and Director of the Islamic Affairs Department Mohammed Jabr Al Mannai.

Qatar Charity is represented by CEO Yousef Ahmed Al Kuwari, Deputy CEO for Governance and Shared Services Mohammed Ali Al Ghamdi, Deputy CEO for Programmes and Communications Nawaf Abdullah Al Hammadi, and Head of the Al Aqraboon Centre Faisal Rashid Al Fuhaida.

The meeting discussed ways to expand strategic cooperation in the coming period and strengthen integration in the design and implementation of joint projects, with a focus on improving efficiency and maximising their impact.

Under the ministerial decision, the committee is responsible for overseeing the partnership’s various areas of cooperation and forming joint technical working groups to study proposed initiatives, develop implementation plans and monitor progress.

Its responsibilities also include evaluating results, addressing implementation challenges, identifying priorities for joint action, and proposing the operational, financial and time frames required to deliver projects and initiatives.

The framework is intended to ensure that joint activities are aligned with the partnership’s strategic objectives and supported by coordinated planning, implementation and follow-up.
