DOHA: Qatar is building world-class smart stadiums that will transform the experience of watching and attending sporting events, said Ooredoo’s Chief New Business Officer, Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani, in a major keynote speech to the Soccerex Global Convention 2015 taking place in Britain this week.
The convention, which is the world’s largest football business event, brings together representatives from Europe’s top clubs, federations, government officials, local organising committees, tournament organisers, stadia suppliers, and the world’s media.
Sheikh Nasser said, “Ooredoo’s vision will support the creation of next generation of stadia, which will deploy the latest network technology to transform the experience of watching sport. Visitors to the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar will be able to see matches in these smart stadiums, and witness every moment of every game wherever they are sitting — and then share it with the world in an instant. They will be able to purchase tickets, snacks and memorabilia using their mobile phones, and connect with their loved ones back home via voice, text and video. It will be the first technology-supercharged World Cup in history.”
Ooredoo is using its participation in Soccerex to showcase the full range of next-generation smart technology that it will deploy for 2022 FIFA World
Cup Qatar.
These solutions include a network of HD video cameras and digital signage, and an impressive Sports Venue & Precinct Management Platform to interconnect building and fan management systems.
This state-of-the-art platform will include full access to control systems for an integrated range of functions such as video surveillance, ticketing, point of sale and cashless payment, smart cards, staff time and attendance management, and smart building energy management. Each system is equipped with the latest technology to make sure things run as smoothly as possible.
Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy is also at the event to showcase Qatar’s on-going support for football, and the nation’s readiness to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Ooredoo’s role within the football industry has always been to showcase the nation’s readiness to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as encourage people to become more active in sports. The company has a long history of supporting sporting activities both nationally and internationally.
