DOHA: The next edition of the Local Dates Festival 2016 will see more participating farms and a bigger venue, say organisers.
An official at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) told Al Rayyan channel that after the success of this year’s edition which has witnessed a big number of daily visitors and sales totalling over three tonnes, the ministry will increase the number of farms and the space will be bigger.
The Local Dates Festival 2016 is witnessing more and more visitors as it ends on Sunday.
The official said visitors prefer certain types of dates such as Khalas, Shishi, Khanizi and Barhi because they taste better.
The festival also sold palm seedlings at a very low price of QR85 and citizens could buy up to five seedlings each. All seedlings have been sold out ahead of the conclusion of the festival. It is organised by the ministry in collaboration with Souq Waqif and is open until tomorrow from 4pm to 10pm.
