Doha: The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies has announced the admission results for its study programmes for the academic year 2016-2017.
The Department of Admissions Registration and Student Affairs has extended admission offers to 233 students out of 1,380 applicants from the Arab world and beyond. The deadline for applying for admission ended in March.
Accepted students will be distributed among 12 programmes on offer. Of 233 students accepted this year, 129 have been offered places at School of Social Sciences and Humanities and 79 at School of Public Administration and Development Economics. Twenty-five students were accepted into the inaugural batch of the new Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action programme.
Admissions decisions were based on a rigorous and competitive selection process that assessed the abilities of each student and included interviews with shortlisted candidates. Selections were made according to an applicant’s exceptional undergraduate record, mastery of Arabic and English languages and expected contributions to society upon graduation.
Qataris make up the largest contingent of accepted students based on nationality, followed by students from Morocco, Egypt, Sudan and Palestine, respectively. Out of the 233 accepted students, 118 are male and 113 female. Fall semester is scheduled to commence on October 2 during which the institute will start accepting applications for the academic year 2017-2018.
This is the second batch of students admitted to the institute which opened last year. The first batch of graduates will be celebrated in June 2017.
