NEW YORK: The Detroit Tigers held the Kansas City Royals to a single run for the second straight night to move further ahead with 5-1 win in the American League Central.
Detroit triumphed behind a strong outing by starting pitcher Rick Porcello as the Tigers won their sixth straight in Kansas City this season.
Porcello (12-5) gave up one run on six hits through seven innings. He walked three and struck out three.

Milwaukee dropped their seventh consecutive game, after it was revealed that the nine-month-old son of shortstop Jean Segura had died on Friday. Andrew McCutchen hit two home runs and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cincinnati Reds in 11 innings. McCutchen went into the game with 18 career home runs against the Reds. REUTERS
