Doha, Qatar: The Core Curriculum Programme (CCP) at the Deanship of General Studies at Qatar University (QU) recently organised a virtual seminar titled “Sustainability as a Pathway to Success” as part of the university’s efforts to raise students’ awareness of sustainability concepts and highlight successful national models in this field.

Held via WebEx, the seminar aimed to enable students to better understand the close connection between environmental preservation and professional excellence by presenting real-world examples that translate academic concepts into tangible projects and initiatives.

During the seminar, Rafia Al-Jassim, researcher and founder of AlgaQ, discussed the importance of adopting the circular economy model as a pathway to entrepreneurship. She explained that sustainable success lies in transitioning from the traditional linear economy model to a circular economy approach that focuses on reducing waste and recycling resources. She also highlighted algae cultivation technologies as innovative solutions to address climate change and strengthen food and water security.

The seminar focused on key themes aimed at inspiring the next generation of innovators, highlighting how environmental challenges can be transformed into successful investment opportunities aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The event also provided students with insights into the journey of transforming research ideas into entrepreneurial ventures.
