‘The Village’ restaurant is set to take diners on a culinary tour of one of the world’s most popular cuisines with a new three-week Italian Food Festival which kicked off on May 9 at Medi. Italian Chef Salvatore Salis has come to Doha for the event, and will showcase his expertise along with culinary experts at ‘The Village’ Restaurant.

Medi at The Village is all set to offer scrumptious Italian food from traditional pastas and pizzas to live cooking stations with the ‘El Mercado’ concept representing the richest flavours of Italy. In addition, guests will be able to live the pure Italian experience awaiting them in the form of soothing Italian music, an elaborate décor and Italian costumes for the staff to go along with the Italian theme.

Salis has over 15 years of hands-on expertise in Italian cuisines, working at prominent five-star hotels and resorts in different countries, including the UAE, Italy, Singapore, France, the UK and Morocco. “What is special about this festival is that we have selected the very best ingredients to compliment the most popular authentic Italian dishes so that our guests can understand the authentic flavours of Italy.

“I cannot wait to see how residents will react to the authentic flavours of Italy at The Village.”

The restaurant will offer a variety of original dishes, based on authentic ingredients brought from Italy for the occasion.

Extra virgin olive oil, authentic Parmesan cheese, and the famous Arborio rice will act as the basis for a range of dishes from homemade pasta to pizza, and sweets.

Visitors to the festival will be able to watch their specific Italian dishes made from scratch, prepare their pizzas, watch homemade risotto come to life, enjoy the very best seafood and complete their meals with a range of sumptuous Italian desserts.

In addition, guests can join ‘What’s Cooking Medi’ which includes a culinary workshop along with cooking demonstrations by Salis.

William Aranha, Managing Director at The Village, stated: “This is the first time we are organizing a food festival at The Village where Good Food comes naturally.

“I am glad we have chosen the flavours of Italy as it is a popular cuisine with local Qatari population as well as expatriates.”
