Katara & CMU-Q join hands for training

The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further boost bilateral cooperation, develop strategic frameworks and provide training opportunities for CMU-Q students.
Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti and CMU-Q Dean and CEO Dr IIker Baybars signed the Mou at a press conference held yesterday at Katara Amphitheatre.
“I’m pleased to announce that the MoU between Katara and CMU-Q will play a vital role in common segments, such as education, culture, creativity, and innovative arts through linking the university with the ongoing community activities,” said Al Sulaiti.
He added: “The cooperation will entail aspects in the fields of scientific research, strategic approaches and studies in accordance with the necessities of the Cultural Village. Internship opportunities will be provided to CMU-Q students.”
“In addition, there will be exchange of authentic experiences in the fields of information system, computer science, business administration, public policies and law, arts and culture, as well as collective cooperation to organise workshops, press conferences, and seminars while encouraging students to volunteer in events held at Katara,” he said.
Baybars said: “When CMU-Q came to Doha in 2004, we made a commitment to help advance the goals and vision of Qatar Foundation and the State of Qatar. It is my pleasure to sign this agreement with Katara Cultural Village today. Katara, like Education City, exemplifies Qatar’s vision of promoting knowledge through the arts, education and technology.”
