DOHA: A high-level representative delegation from Qatar will participate in the upcoming Kazan Summit 2013 to be held from October 2 to 3 in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, said a statement yesterday.
The mission, consisting Qatari business community leaders, is intending to get acquainted with Tatarstan projects and investment opportunities to strengthen Russian-Qatari trade and economic relations.
The members of the delegation include: Chairman of Qatari Businessmen’s Association, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Trading Agency, Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker and others.
This is not the first time the delegations from the Arabian Gulf are visiting Tatarstan Republic. They are deeply interested to invest in the Republic’s projects such as Smart City Kazan, which attracts investors from Qatar.
The two-day event is the premier international economic summit of the Russian Federation and members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) organised by the Islamic Business and Finance Development (IBFD) Foundation, a non-profit organisation.
Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, a special executive body of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, designed to carry out investment promotion and facilitation, is the co-organiser of the summit.
The annual summit, established in 2009, has been held under the patronage of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan since 2010. It also has the support of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
The summit aims at improving and deepening economic and business relationships of the Russian Federation and OIC countries.
The Peninsula
