Doha: The ‘Breaking Fast’ project organised by Qatar Charity (QC) continues to offer food through its tent in Aziziya to single workers living in the area. Around 300 workers benefit every day.
Aziziya is one of the areas where a lot of workers and single men live considering the malls where hundreds of workers work. Therefore, QC implemented the project in the area.
Khaled Ribata, Supervisor of the tent, said the tent hosts 300 people daily. “We make sure to get to the place early to organise the tent. We start immediately after Aser prayers. We open the tent, start ACs and call workers and single men and tell them to wait for Iftar.”
He said meals are usually brought at 5.15pm. “We make sure to check the meals, their quality and how fresh they are, and write down anything necessary for the restaurant to take into consideration in the future.”
Mohammed Abu An-noor, one of the organisers, said, “Distribution of meals happens a little before Iftar so that they remain in their best conditions when they are delivered to the workers.
QC’s ‘Iftar Tables’ project targets more than 173,000 people. QC offers Iftar at 24 group tables established across the country. The tables are mainly for single workers, passers-by and low-income people. The project is implemented at a cost of over QR7,000,000. The number of beneficiaries has increased 17,400 as compared to last year.
The Iftar tables are set up in Al Khor, Thakihra, Simaisma, Kharaitiyat, Gharafa, Rayyan, Shahaniya, Al Wakra, Bin Mahmoud, Fareej Abdul Aziz, Najma, Al Mansoura, Bin Umran, Al Matar, Sailiya, Al Jamelaiah, and Um Salal Mohammed.
