Defender Murad Naji said yesterday Al Duhail are confident of reaching the Amir Cup final with a win over Al Sailiya in the semi-final today.

“Playing the Amir Cup final is a special occasion and our side are feeling confident right now ahead of our match against Al Sailiya,” Naji said.

Al Duhail beat Al Sailiyah twice in the regular season.

“We know it won’t be an easy game but we are confident about our capabilities. We have beaten them this season,” 27-year-old said.

Naji said the Amir Cup presents Al Duhail last chance to nail a trophy before the end of the football season on May 16 with the final being played at Al Wakra Stadium.

“Our first task remains to beat Al Sailiyah on Sunday,” Naji said.

The semi-final will be played under lights at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium today.

“Our job is to fight on the pitch and that’s what we intend to do,” he added.

Al Duhail coach Rui Faria said: “This is a very important match for us. We are facing a strong team and our players began late the preparations for this match after our return from Tehran. I gave the players the best

information about Al Sailiya’s strengths and weaknesses and how we can take advantage of these points to achieve victory.”

He added: “When we talk about the Amir Cup matches, we cannot compare recent results or under-estimate the rivals. What matters is the performance on the pitch.”

“We cannot make excuses as we are now in a situation where we have rested and are ready for the match,” the coach said. “We have to focus on technical side and deliver for our fans,” Al Duhail coach said.
