Beirut: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun condemned the Israeli aggression on the Al Musaylih area in southern Lebanon, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of 7 others, warning of the dangers of this escalation which comes in the wake of the declared ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In an official statement issued Saturday, Aoun said that once again, southern Lebanon falls under the fire of blatant Israeli aggression targeting civilian infrastructure, without justification or legal pretext.

The danger of this latest attack lies in its timing, as it comes after the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and following the Palestinian side’s approval of a mechanism to contain weapons and render them inactive.

He added that this raises fundamental challenges for the Lebanese people and the international community, including the question of whether there are those who seek to compensate for Gaza in Lebanon, to sustain their need for political profiteering through fire and bloodshed.

He further questioned whether it would not now be logical and just to support Lebanon with the same truce model that had been unanimously agreed upon by all parties.
