Doha: Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, met here yesterday with Dr Pana Petra, the Minister of State at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in the field of transportation, air transport and communications, and means of further enhancing them.
Following the meeting, the Minister of Transport and Communications and the Hungarian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs witnessed the signing ceremony of the Air Service Agreement to open the airspace between the two countries, allowing the operation of any number of passenger and cargo flights with full transport rights.
The agreement enables national carriers to exercise the fifth freedom of the air, allowing airlines to carry passengers and cargo to another country, and from there to points beyond. The agreement was signed by Abdullah bin Nasser Turki Al Subaey, Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority, and Dr. Istvan Elter, the Hungarian Ambassador to Qatar.
The Agreement comes as part of ongoing efforts by Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Civil Aviation Authority to hold more talks with other countries aiming to connect the State of Qatar with more air service agreements, opening the gateway to the national carriers to fly to more destinations around the world. The deal takes Qatar’s air transport agreements with world countries to nearly 160.
