Doha: For the first time in Latin America, the ‘Challenges and Reality’ photo exhibition is being held in Bayt Qatar — Qatar’s Olympic hospitality house — from August 3 to 21 at Rio.
Rio de Janeiro is the exhibition’s third destination since its launch at the Unesco headquarters in Paris, followed by Katara.
The exhibition brings to life images and stories of students in 10 countries enrolled in quality primary education programmes across the world through the ‘Educate A Child’ (EAC) programme run by Education Above All (EAA).
EAA began with the aim of significantly reducing the number of children who have been denied access to education.
Since April 2013, EAA, through its EAC programme, has returned nearly 11,000 children to education in Brazil alone.
The exhibition is showcasing 20 photos from projects in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Haiti, India, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lebanon, Pakistan, Sudan and Turkey. It highlights the scale of the barriers and obstacles being faced by children who want to return to education.
The exhibition is part of a wider programme to highlight Qatar’s culture, heritage and passion for sport during the Olympic Games.
Fahad Al Sulaiti, CEO, EAA, said: “We are pleased to be able to highlight the barriers to education children face through our exhibition at Bayt Qatar during the Rio Olympic Games. Children throughout the world deserve the right to access good quality education.”
Bayt Qatar in Botafogo is open to the public throughout the  Olympic  Games.
