Doha: Portuguese midfielder Ruben Amorim arrived in Doha on Sunday and will look to finalise a deal with Al Wakrah ahead of the new Qatar Stars League season.

The Portuguese  underwent a medical test at Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital on Monday.

The Waves have been after the Benfica man for some time, and will hope he can solidify a sometimes porous midfield.

Last season Benfica won the domestic Portuguese title and Amorim is known as a box-to-box midfielder who can also play as a right-back.

Amorim spent most of his professional career with Belenenses and Benfica, signing with the latter in 2008 and going on to win 10 major titles, including three national championships. He also represented Portugal in two World Cups.

Christian Bolanos leaves Al Gharafa

Al Gharafa has ended their contract with winger Christian Bolanos. The decision was made with the mutual consent of both parties.

The Costa Rican made only 11 appearances for the Cheetahs last season and scored four goals and gave six assists.

Bolanos joined during the winter transfer window and replaced Brazilian Nene who left for English Premier League side West Ham United.

Meanwhile, QSL side Qatar Sports Club were scheduled to face Spanish fourth division side Terrassa FC in a friendly in Spain yesterday.
