Economy Ministry issues 125 copyrights

DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has issued 125 copyrights and related rights certificates for paintings and other creative works from October 1 last to March 31 this year.
The registered certificates were issued for 43 paintings, 42 written material, 12 architecture designs and engineering, 12 decorative arts, seven books, five computer software, three audio-visual works and one sculpture.
In accordance with Law No 7 of 2002, copyright is given to a piece of literary or artistic work created by one author or a group of people. All copyright works are protected throughout the author’s life and extend for 50 years following his death or the death of the last co-author. The law defines related rights as those of performers, producers of audio recordings, and broadcasting organisations. Performers’ rights take effect from the end of the year of releasing the work. 
The rights of producers of audio recording material take effect from the year following the publication of the material or its release by media if not yet been published and broadcasting organisations’ rights are fixed for 20 years.The Peninsula
